Costume Design for Fall 2025

In this depiction of Dracula, I aimed for moody colors, worn items, and a gothic aesthetic that leaned more towards the idea of “dark academia.” I pictured the costumes to be more historically “grand”, fully capturing strong silhouettes of the eras, between 1880s to 1890s. However, once I met with the directors, my idea was different than their perception, which felt more 1900s to 1910s inspired, and more modernity added. I tend to pull jewel toned colors out, with a lot of burgundy added to my designs--I suppose my eyes are just drawn to those schemes. I tried to experiment with different shades of grey and brown, all colors going down to black. I’d say my idea of gothic dark academia wasn’t quite achieved, but I think it still held the historical feeling to it, despite challenges with finding appropriate period wear. I was heavily inspired by the aesthetic and design of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes films.
